New MTA cards let riders renew online

There will be no more lines at subway station booths and MetroCard machines if you use a monthly unlimited−ride MetroCard.
It is called EasyPayXpress, the new MetroCard that never runs out of rides.
The New York City Transit Authority said straphangers can now sign up online to get the $81 cost deducted automatically from a credit or debit card.
Straphangers sign up over the Web and the card is mailed to the applicant. It is good for two years.
“The addition of an unlimited card option is the natural next step for the EasyPayXpress program,” said Paul Fleuranges, vice president of corporate communications at the city Transit Authority.
“We expect that unlimited MetroCard users will, as we’ve seen with our pay−per−ride population, appreciate the fact that they never have to worry about running out of rides or standing on a MetroCard vending machine line with their credit card or cash to buy a new one.”
The EastPayXpress card can be used on regular buses and subways but not express buses, which has a different fare structure.
EastPayXpress cardholders have access to account information online any time at easypaymetrocard.com. Once logged in on the secure Web site, straphangers can view statements, change their PIN or update their financial information.
Account information is also available by calling the MTA Service Center at 877−323−7433.
