A quarreling couple sent borough police in a tailspin Tuesday morning after bogus claims were made that a man had abducted his estranged girlfriend and child.

Believing the report to be genuine, cops reportedly spread out throughout the city, as well as nearby Fort Greene near the corner of Myrtle and Carlton Avenues, where the woman said her former love abducted her.

The search ended at the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library on Eastern Parkway near Grand Army Plaza, where cops found the man’s van. Initial reports said that the man surrendered to police from inside the library.

Police said that the woman contacted 911 claiming that her ex, whom she had an order of protection against, grabbed her and her child off the street at about 10:30 a.m.

Threatening them with a weapon, the man drove around for an hour before the woman could break free and call authorities, she claimed.

But in the end the woman was playing the NYPD for a bunch of turkeys – just in time for Thanksgiving.

It was later determined that the woman was never abducted.

Instead, she allegedly bashed in the window to her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle during an argument that morning and made the story up to cover up what she had done.

Things started clearing up when the boyfriend called the cops – while they were looking for him -- wanting to file a complaint against her. Cops found him by the library, but there was no dramatic showdown inside, officials said.

Perplexed cops took everyone into custody. In the end, the boyfriend was arrested for violating the order of protection. His punchy paramour was charged with vandalizing his vehicle, officials said.
